Mindfulness is awareness that arises through paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, non-judgementally. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â

What is Mindful Eating
During a mindful eating experience, one would expect to:
Slow down and breathe.
Investigate your hunger and satiety cues.
Savor your food.
Non-judgementally observe your experience before, during and after eating by using all your senses.
There is no right or wrong way to eat. Each experience is uniquely yours.
Through paying attention to what and how we eat, we become open to our own body’s needs and make choices that best support our total wellness.
Benefits of Mindful Eating

Is not a diet! A diet can feel restrictive.
Mindful eating opens the mind to see opportunity and choice.
Does not focus on weight.
Appropriate for everyone, including those that have diabetes, heart disease or other medical conditions.
Learn to listen to your body vs just eating to eat.
Helps you to become aware of your thoughts, feelings, and physical sensations around eating.
Mindful eating can:
Decrease binge eating
Decrease emotional eating
Improve body acceptance
Free ourselves from shame and self judgement
Enhance our pleasure at meal time
Help bring awareness to what we eat and how it is interconnected to the world
Is empowering!
